Stanley Charles Martin, born June 6, 1936 in Yorkton, Sask, passed away April 17, 2005 in Victoria, BC. He will be warmly greeted by his parents Mike and Mary Martin and other family and friends who await him. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched and his loving family-his wife Beda, his daughter Vicki McLeod (Ian), his son Peter Laurie (Suzanne), his daughter Etanda Morelli (Marty), his grandchildren Alexander and Cassie Laurie and Tanner and Tyce Morelli, his sister Donna Phillips (Bill) and his brothers Victor (Ann), Dave (Sheila) and Greg (Wendy) and his many nephews and nieces. Stan was a well-known BC hotelier from Nelson, Alert Bay, Langley, Maple Ridge and lately of Nanaimo, BC. He was well-known for his generosity, sense of humour and ‘magic’ personality.

A celebration of knowing and loving Stan will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Beban Park Social Centre 2300 Bowen Road in Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be mad e to the Kidney Foundation of Canada 1-800-567-8112. Very special thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for him at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria.

Now Stan-the-Man was a hellavu guy, a husband and a dad

He helped his kids, his friends, his bro’s in good times and in bad

He limped a bit and he had a squint and they say he’d gotten old

But he was still the man with the winning hand and he had a heart of gold

So if you meet him coming down the street, or on the boulevard,

Just say yes, when he gives a wink and says “Hey, babe-pick a card.”

Aloha. A good time was had by all.
