It is with great sadness and sorrow that we are announcing the sudden passing of our father Tord Roland "Roly" Harry Nilsson.

He was born 10 Jan 1946 in Stockholm, Sweden. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 with his parents and sister, during the worst storm and seas the Atlantic had seen in years, not a dish was left unbroken.

Roly, from a young age had the soul of a wandering and never settling for easy. Following, in the foot steps of his father, he began his culinary career. He began working life as a line cook and worked his way up to become the 97th Chef du Cuisine certified in Canada. His culinary talent took him all over Western Canada, from Prince George to Regina, Calgary, Vancouver and back to name a few.

Roly moved to Northern Vancouver Island 1985 where he operated two restaurants. In the early nineties he decided to pursue another career and became the sales representative for the North Island Gazette. When he retired in 2008 Roly had once again worked his way to the top, to become the publisher.

Roly is predeceased by his mother Mariana and is survived by his father Kurt Nilsson (Courtney, BC); Sister, Christina (Comox, BC); Brother Darren (Nanaimo, BC). His 5 children; Shayne (Sooke, BC), Ron (Powell River, BC), Jamie (Kelowna, BC), Greg (Kelowna, BC), Kim (Port Hardy, BC); and their respective Spouses; his 14 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild. His 3 Nieces, Tamara (Victoria, BC), Sarah (Black Creek) and Amanda (Courtney). And countless Aunts, Uncle and cousins still living in Sweden.

There will be a celebration of life for Roly on 28 April 2018 at Story's Beach in Port Hardy, BC at 13:00.

In lieu of flowers, we request stories, laughs, quips, and adventures of Roly's life.
