Violet Marion Glover passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2006. Vi was born July 10, 1926 in Saltcoats, Saskatchewan to William and Catherine MacKenzie. She was raised in Carlea, SK until she joined the Air Force in 1943 in Winnipeg. In 1947 she moved west to Vancouver, where she completed her Registered Nurse’s diploma from St. Paul’s Hospital.

She met Gordon Glover, a logger, in Vancouver and a love blossomed. They were married on July 7, 1951 and moved to Woss Lake, B.C where they resided for more than 35 years. In 1987 they moved to their retirement home in Union Bay, B.C. In 2004, Vi moved to Lacombe, AB until her passing.

Violet is the cherished mother of her large clan: Charlotte (Jeff) Krauser, Nancy (Jim) Knievel, Susan Glover, Gwen Glover, Bette (Dwayne) Axani, Annie Glover (Paul Berthelet), Bob (Carrie) Glover, Gordon Glover, Ed (Fiona) Glover, 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Vi also leaves to mourn her loss, brother Dick (Joy) MacKenzie, sisters Esther Haberman, Jean (Duncan) Reid, Margaret Adams and Sandy McLean, brother-in-law Jack (Lorraine) Glover, sister-in-laws Trudy Tetlock and Lu Glover.

Vi was predeceased by her husband Gordon Glover in 1988, her brother Sandy MacKenzie, sister Mary Harper, son-in-law Robert Noonan.

A heartfelt thank you to The Comox Valley Parkinsons Group for their support and friendship. A service to celebrate Violet’s life will be held at Piercy’s Funeral Home Chapel, 440 England Avenue, Courtenay, B.C. on Saturday, June 24th at 10:00 a.m. If so desired, memorial tributes may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of BC, Suite 600 - 890 West Pender Street, Vancouver, B.C.
