PORT HARDY—The local novice hockey contingent were joined by a team from Campbell River this weekend as they took place in the Port Hardy Novice Tournament, held Dec 1-2 in the Don Cruickshank Memorial Arena in Port Hardy.

Two teams from Port Hardy, two from Port McNeill and a Port Alice side took to the ice along with the down-island representatives for a two-day, round-robin format tourney with an emphasis on fun for the competitors.

The event also had fundraising aspects as the organizers offered a puck toss and raffle to the healthy crowd cheering on the young athletes.
