The Port Hardy Hawks won three straight games during their Bantam House League Tournament at the Don Cruickshank Memorial Arena in Port Hardy, before running into a very tough team called the Nanaimo Moose #6 on Sunday afternoon.
Though the Port Hardy Hawks played hard all weekend, the Moose #6 pulled ahead early and kept on going during the final, which decided first and second place in the tournament.
“Our kids skated hard and kept trying but the passes just couldn’t connect and soon frustration took hold,” said Tournament Organizer Sabrina Dent. “The penalties piled up… The Hawks played hard all weekend and should be proud of doing so well. Their second place trophy is now in our display case and we will put a team pic with it.”
The Port McNeill Warriors played against the Comox Devils on Sunday, ultimately taking fifth place overall.
“The Warriors never gave up and played well,” added Dent.
