The North Island Atom Eagles weren’t playing around when they faced off against the Campbell River Tyees on Saturday at the Don Cruickshank Memorial Arena in Port Hardy.
The Eagles scored a whopping 15 unanswered goals over three periods thanks to Tyce Manke (x3), William Harrison (x2), Carter Henschke (x4), Kyle Rushton, Dakota Knighton (x2), Linden Tomasi, Jessica Blodgett, and Dylan Puglas.
Assists went to Harrison (x3), Dallas Puglas, Rushton, Knighton (x2), Johan Topfer, Ayen Peterson (x2), and Henschke.
Eagles’ goaltender Matt Mercer didn’t face too many shots over three periods of play, roughly 10, but he was sharp when he needed to be, picking up a big shutout victory.
The Eagles finished off preseason tiering with an excellent 3-1-1 record, and will look to make some noise in league play coming up.
