A local farmer had a bumper crop of potatoes, and has decided to donate them all to the community.

It’s been a hard year and people are struggling, he told said Sandra Daniels, a director with the Regional District of Mount Waddington.

Daniels is stationed at the grocery store parking lot in Port McNeill with 2,000 pounds of spuds ready to give them to anyone who comes by.

“Most people can only carry five or 10 pounds at a time, so we need a lot of people!” she said.

Head down to the main parking lot on Campbell Way between Broughton Boulevard and Hemlock in Port McNeill. The truck will be there until the last tuber is given away.
