The eighth annual Victor’s Secret Fashion Show went off without a hitch in Port McNeill on Saturday night.
This year the fashion show featured a 70s disco theme, where local North Island men strutted their stuff down the catwalk to raise money for North Island cancer patients to help aid them with travel expenses and accommodations when they have to leave the North Island for treatments.
The fashion show has helped 49 people in the last seven years, depositing over $36,000 since the first show.
Committee member Cheryl Beech Verbrugge thanked everyone involved in a touching Facebook post on Sunday morning, which you can read below:
“Once again, I am beyond words of appreciation and gratitude for all the wonderful people that make Victor’s Secret happen! To our crew, that plans all year long and busts our butts, the days before, during and after the event, to the models that brave the stage and entertain us, to all our sponsors that give so generously to our event for the raffle tables and the bank account, to the stores that help sell our tickets, to the lovely Kendra Parnham-Hall for working her magic with teaching the guys to dance, to our MC Jonathan Lok for the amazing job, and our DJ Jamie Keamo for the awesome music, and to ALL the people that come from all over the island to support our event! Together we have raised our highest total yet, $12,500!!! I am so proud of our North Island!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
