PORT ALICE — Local artist Elizabeth Greskovits claimed the Grand Entry trophy for her needlepoint creation Sunday, highlighting the awards ceremony that brought to a close the two-day Mount Waddington Fall Fair at the local arena.
The fair featured food, entertainment, door prizes, displays of gardening, sewing, art and photography, and numerous booths from both businesses and public civic organizations. On Saturday afternoon, World Suicide Prevention Day was recognized with a one-hour, kite-flying demonstration on the open school field behind the arena.
The Grand Aggregate trophies for top combined point totals for all entries went to Brenda Fleeton of Port Hardy for adults, to Jodie Korhonen of Port Hardy for teens, and to Taryn Walker of Port McNeill in the children's class.
