McDonald’s is aiming for a November opening date in Port Hardy.

Port Hardy council was given a tour of the brand new building on Tuesday, Sept. 26 earlier in the day before their regular council meeting that’s held in the evening.

Coun. Brian Texmo was the first one at the council table to leak the upcoming November opening date, stating the actual construction of the building has been one of the fastest he’s ever seen, and that the inside of it is “a lot bigger than I expected.”

Coun. Janet Dorward noted the tour was “great” and that the owners, who have three other McDonald’s in Campbell River, were on hand to guide them around the site.

“Super nice people,” Dorward said about the owners. “I was pleased that they talked about what community charities they could donate to when those opportunities came up, so it sounds like they’re going to be good supporters of our community.”

“The McDonald’s sneak peek was really neat and really fun,” added Mayor Pat Corbett-Labatt about the tour. She said she was pleased to hear they’re planning to give back to the community.
