PHSS wrestlers receive year-end awards at practice

‘Everyone who competed this year received a special trophy for all their hard work’

It was a special night at the Port Hardy Secondary School gymnasium last Wednesday (Feb. 28), as wrestling team members received their year-end awards.

‘We ended the 2023-2024 season in style,” said assistant coach Tyson Whitney. “Everyone who competed this year received a special trophy for all their hard work.”

The PHSS wrestling team travelled many kilometres to compete at five different tournaments this year, earning one gold medal, one silver medal, and four bronze medals along the way.

Awards given out were as follows:

Maven Labree - Most Outstanding Wrestler (2019-2024);

Auzton Shaw - Most Technical;

Anthony Blacha - Iron Man Award;

Sheldon Frank - MVP;

Rylan France - Most Defensive;

Jakob Bowers - Rookie of the Year; and

Patience Gullacher - Aggression Award.
