Logging Accident

A serious logging accident has taken place in northern Vancouver Island.

Reports are emerging of a serious logging accident that took place on the morning of July 24 in northern Vancouver Island.

Amy Spencer, director of communications and government relations at Western Forest Products, said Friday morning that RCMP and Work Safe BC are heading to the scene of the accident. She also said that operations at the unspecified work site have been shut down and crews sent home. Spencer confirmed that the individual involved in the accident worked for a company that was contracted to work for Western Forest Products.

Gordon Brownridge, Staff Sergeant for the Port Hardy RCMP, was on his way the scene of the accident as of 11:30 a.m. Friday morning.
