West Shore RCMP arrested a man after he was allegedly threatening people on the Galloping Goose Trail with a knife while showing signs of intoxication.
On Tuesday, April 16, officers received a complaint from a witness that the man, who was on the trail near Brydon Road, was brandishing a knife and threatening people with it.
The man was arrested without incident and an illegal style of knife was seized from him, police said. RCMP added the man was displaying symptoms of alcohol intoxication at the time of the arrest.
“Thankfully no one was physically injured in this incident. We want to thank the witness who called police right away and provided a detailed description of the suspect and his location which allowed police to apprehend the suspect quickly,” said West Shore RCMP media relations officer Nancy Saggar in a news release.
The 47-year-old man was arrested for uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a prohibited device.
The suspect is set to appear before the courts on April 17.
