As a result of a physician shortage, Port Hardy Hospital will have limited health services for 24 hours both Thursday and Saturday, Vancouver Island Health Authority announced this week.
The emergency room closures will run from 8 a.m. Thursday through 8 a.m. Friday, and again from 8 a.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.
Those with an emergency should call 911 or proceed to the Port McNeill Emergency Department.
Those unsure what services they need may call 8-1-1, a 24-hour, toll-free service that provides consultation with a registered nurse.
