It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Darlene Caroline Angelina Watt (nee Engel) on December 24th, 2023, at the age of 57.
Darlene was born in Hope BC on September 25th, 1966 - the long-awaited and adored baby girl in a family of four older brothers. The Engel clan moved to Kokish Camp in 1969. Darlene started dating Geordie there at the age of 18. Geordie and Darlene moved to Port McNeill to start their family. She was a North Islander her whole life.
Darlene was a deeply devoted wife and mother, and her greatest joy was her family. Dar was an amazing mother to her two children and, in 2022 with the arrival of Bowen, she was thrilled to become a Grandma.
She never missed a chance to spoil the children in her life with toys and treats. She loved to cook and kept the family recipes going to the delight and gratitude of those lucky enough to dine with her. She was such a kind and caring sister and friend.
Darlene was predeceased by her father Henry Engel in 1997 and was a loving caregiver to her dear mom Dolores (2011) in her later years.
Darlene is survived by those who loved her so much: husband Geordie; her children Alysha (Arran), and Nathan (Desiree); grandchildren Rylan, Isabelle, and Bowen; her brothers Rob (Jacqui), Rick (Brenda), Doug (Teresa), and Donald, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
A private family gathering will take place in the summer.
Darlene, having you in our lives was a blessing. Memories of you are a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
