May 11, 1958-March 23, 2010

It is with love and great sadness that we announce the passing of Debbie Dow-Rees. Born May 11, 1958, passed away March 23, 2010. Predeceased by her parents Glen and Dorothy, brothers Tom and Jim. Survived by her husband Howard, son Jason, brothers Pat, Rick (Rebecca), Bruce and Nathan, one niece, six nephews and countless friends.

Debbie started her working career in the hospitality industry as a waitress at the Thunderbird Inn in 1972. She made many good friends from around the world as she continued to work at the T-Bird and Seagate Hotels, finishing her hospitality career at the Glen Lyon Inn. Debbie took a job in the Aquaculture industry in 1996; she was a proud fish farmer who loved nurturing the little salmon smolts into beautiful full grown salmon the world could enjoy.

Debbie’s love for family, friends and life itself will never be forgotten, our memories are filled with love and laughter. She was always prepared to listen and new instinctively when to offer a meal, a hug or a phone call. Her generosity of spirit, friendship and positive attitude will always be treasured.

Debbie’s also had a love of gardening and spent countless hours in them creating and recreating them. Her gardens are true friendship gardens having been created with cuttings and plants from many friends. She joyously shared cuttings and plants with friends and strangers alike.

A memorial service will take place at the Port Hardy Civic Center April 3 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers donations could be made at the Port Hardy Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice.
