Nov. 17, 1955-July 8, 2009

Doug Knopp of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away July 8, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Doug was born November 17, 1955 in Burnaby and grew up in Smith Inlet until his family moved to Port Hardy in 1969 where Doug remained until 2001.

Doug worked in the fishing industry for 20 years before starting trucking. During his time in Port Hardy, Doug was privileged to serve with the 4th Canadian Ranger patrol. After moving to Grande Prairie he built up a small business of seven trucks and served the norther Alberta/BC corridor.

Doug is survived by Glena, his loving wife and business partner of 34 years, daughter Cheri, both of Grande Prairie, parents Ernie and Alma Knopp, brother Ken, all of Port Hardy and sister Laverne Brown of Port McNeill. Also surviving is a God-daughter, Kyla Andrieux (Matt) and two granddaughters, Emma and Abby, all of Angwin, CA, as well as 8 nephews and 6 nieces. Doug was predeceased by an infant son.

Memorial service will be held in Grande Prairie July 20. In lieu of flowers, Doug has requested that you perform an act of kindness.
