Eddie was born in Vancouver but spent his whole life in Sointula. He became a trucking contractor and a commercial fisherman. He had his seiner “Jenolet” built in 1977 and skippered it until 1999.

Eddie donated much to his community by giving of his time, energy, knowledge and machinery. He sat on many boards and committees. He sat on the Mount Waddington Regional Board as Electoral Area A director from 1979-1993. He was always a member of the UFAWU.

Eddie lost his battle with dementia (Lewy Bodies) that he had fought with dignity. He was cared for in the Multi-Care Unit of the CICHC in Alert Bay. While there he was cared for with professionalism and love. He could not have been in a better place. A big thank you to all the staff. A special thank you to Dr. Ross, Dr. Shugarman and Dr. Ham.

Eddie was predeceased by his parents Annie and Arne Johnson and by his only sibling, Herb.

Eddie-dad-grandpa, will always be loved by the family he adored — his wife of 42 years: Sylvia, his daughters: Jenny and Violet; and his grandchildren: Albert, Kayla, Maranda Chelsea, Jade and Alexis.

A celebration of his life was held on Nov. 15 in Sointula.
