Elaine Dornan-Krawietz

August 12, 2005

Elaine Dornan-Krawietz of Coal Harbour passed away peacefully on August 12, 2005 after a long illness.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Rainer Krawietz, son Jason, daughters Adrienne and Ashley, daughter-in-law Arlene, grandchildren Alya and Hunter, sister Janette Orr, brother-in-law Doug Kemp, nephew Shawn Kemp, niece Kathryn Kemp, brother Ian Orr, and mother Jessie Orr. Pre-deceased by her father Campbell Orr.

Elaine raised her three children single-handedly. In the late 90’s, she decided to complete high school and go to university to become an English teacher.

It was there that she understood how much she loved learning and she thrived.

Upon receiving her degree, she worked in and around many school districts in the lower mainland.

It was not long before she decided to move to the north island where she could be closer to her sister. Here, she met and married her husband Rainer and they settled in Coal Harbour.

Elaine also worked for School District #85 and for the ‘Namgis Band’s school in Alert Bay. She loved teaching and it showed. Her students adored her. When she had to step down because of health reasons, they started up a petition imploring her not to go.

Elaine’s gentle and simple beauty touched all of us. Her thoughtfulness and kind and patient manner made each of us feel special. We are all so much better for having known her.

Elaine, we miss you so much. Rest in peace dear love.

Elaine, I love you dearly, I miss you and I will cherish you forever.
