It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Howard John Cheetham, on November 24, 2023. He passed away peacefully at Eagle Ridge Manor at the age of 74.
Howard was born April 24, 1949 in Kingston, Ontario. He grew up in his hometown of Seeley's Bay before heading west to Vancouver Island. He moved to the North Island (Port Hardy) in the late 1960's where he and wife (Marie) started a family.
Howard worked in the forest industry for several years until he retired in 2000. He played hockey most of his life, coached Minor Hockey for several years and was also a member of the Old Timers Hockey team. He enjoyed fishing and spent countless hours at the Seven Hills Golf Course.
He is fondly remembered by several members in the community for never hesitating to stop for a quick chat if he was passing by.
Howard is survived by his spouse ( Lupita Ross), children Tanya (Victor) and Brandon (Christina) as well as grandchildren (Sydney, Larissa, Jerzie and Jayce).
He is preceded in death by his father (Raymond Cheetham), mother (Edith Webb) and brother (Blaine).
The family would like to thank the staff at Eagle Ridge Manor and Island Health for their care of Howard.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date in the spring. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Diabetes Canada.
