April 12, 1953 – October 29, 2021
Leslie Clarence Taylor, 68, passed away peacefully in Campbell River on October 29, 2021, surrounded by his children and oldest grandson. Not wanting too many people to fuss over him, his silent battle with serious health issues over the past year is a testament to his courage and resilience and the strength of his character.
Les was born on April 12, 1953, in Vancouver, BC, to Margaret Nelson and Clarence Taylor. He was the oldest of seven children and grew up in Campbell River. He and his brothers played many sports, but Les enjoyed playing football the most and went on to play as a quarterback at Vancouver College.
Les was a proud father and grandfather who was the happiest when his “Taylor Gang” was under one roof, catching up, telling stories and sharing laughs. His love for his children, and later his grandchildren, knew no bounds. He would do anything to support and encourage them.
While Les loved his family fiercely, his love was abundant, and he shared it freely with many people in the community. Les had a passion for helping others and encouraged everyone he met to pursue their dreams and live life to its fullest.
Les was a well-known Native Courtworker who was heavily involved with the community. He also was a long-standing board member for the Round Lake Treatment Centre and the k’awat’si Economic Development Corporation.
Les will be missed by his siblings, his children and grandchildren, his nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends.
Thank you to Les’s medical teams in Campbell River, Vancouver and Terrace, and everyone who knew and cared for Les. The family appreciates your kind thoughts at this time.
Due to pandemic restrictions, Les will be honoured in a private service at Sutton’s Campbell River Funeral Home on November 12, 2021, at 11 am. The service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person: https://vimeo.com/event/1465254.
All are welcome to attend a reception that will follow at the Eagles Hall, 1999 14th Ave, Campbell River, BC, at 1:30 pm. Light refreshments will be provided. Please note proof of vaccination will be required.
