Meralda Pink

Meralda Pink was born on April 14, 1928 in Prince Rupert to Alexandria Pink and Adelaida (Roos) Pink. Meralda lived most of her 75 years in Sointula. Meralda went to Pillman Business College in Vancouver. Then Meralda worked for the Journal of Commerce newspaper proofreading newspapers. Meralda returned to Sointula then went to Namu to work in the fish cannery cleaning, scaling, etc. Meralda worked in the Co-op in grocery for 3 1/2 years, quit, then worked in Vancouver for Safeway for 8 months. She reapplied in the Co-op store on a dare in the summer and ended up working for 30 years before retiring. During her years in Sointula she cared for her ailing mother until she passed away. On June 2003 Meralda had a stroke and ended up in Port McNeill hospital where she resided until February 22, 2003. She will be missed by her friends. Coffee will be served at the Sointula Senior Citizens Club on APRIL 5, 2003 at 2 o’clock to honor her memory.
