November 12,1921 - October 17, 2005.
Nora was born in Camrose, Alberta and grew up in Vancouver, B.C. At the age of 19 she moved to Quatsino to teach in the community’s one-room school. She married Carl Johnson of Quatsino in 1944 and together they raised two sons, Fred and Alan. In 1975 Nora became Quatsino’s Postmistress, a job she enjoyed and continued for 30 years, retiring on Sept. 30th, 2005 at the age of 83 years.
Nora will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family, her community, and the many friends with whom she kept in contact.
Services of Thanksgiving for Nora’s life will be held in White Rock on October 29th, and in Quatsino on Saturday, November 12th at 11:00 am at the school. Water taxis to Quatsino will be available - please call Quatsino Sound Marine Transportation (949-6358) to reserve space. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Quatsino Archives Association.
