Richard Francis
With family by his side, Richard passed away on July 19, 2009, at Langley Memorial Hospital, after a brief but valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Gesine; his son Colin and daughter-inlaw, Karen; his son Jason and daughter-in-law Susan; his grandchildren, Brennan and Bethany; and his extended family in Australia. Richard started his teaching career in Australia and New Zealand, and worked for many decades as a teacher and administrator in communities throughout B.C. and Alberta. Richard’s family and friends will miss his honesty, forthrightness and dry wit. A man on integrity, Richard showed us that choosing the right path, even if difficult, is always the best option.
