FROSTY

Robert Craig Frost

August 23, 1946 - August 27, 2006

Robert was born in Chilliwack, B.C. to Juanita (Mary) Cromerty and was a native son of the Sto:lo Nation. All who knew and loved him called him “FROSTY?“ with deep affection and respect. Many will remember Frosty from his early career as a commercial diver which led him to be one of the early pioneers in the Geo-duck harvesting industry off the coast of Vancouver Island. Frosty was also a visionary in developing the tourist industry in the small North Vancouver Island community of Winter Harbour. With the stubborn determination he was known for, he built Harbour Daze Campsite which is now a favorite destination for many sport fishermen year after year. His most recent venture included the construction of two floating fishing lodges which quickly became a very popular accommodation for the fishing enthusiasts frequenting Winter Harbour.Frosty leaves behind his loving wife Elizabeth (Liz) Frost, son Shane Frost and family, brother Gordon Frost and family of Yarrow, B.C., nephew Aaron Frost of Port McNeill and adopted son Kimbal Harty of Doha, Kandahar. He will also be deeply missed by his lifelong friends Harry The Bear, Dano, and Black Jack as well as by Owen Barrett and the longtime friends and acquaintances he made from his years on Vancouver Island, in Winter Harbour and more recently from the new friends made in Creston where he and Liz have lived for the last five years. Services will be held in Winter Harbour in the spring of 2007 where we will say good-bye to our favorite Crusty Ol’ Sea Dog. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
