PORT HARDY—Goalie Kayden Jones picked up the MVP trophy for the Division-topping North Island Eagles Atoms side last week as the Eagles held their annual AGM and awards night at the Civic Centre.

Atom manager Laura Evans was invited onstage by coach Ray Bono to don the side’s ‘Digger’ hard hat as the players and coaches lined up alongside their Division 4 League and Playoff banners. “I wish I had a trophy for every one of them,” said Bono of his side.

Clayton Bono was given the Eagles trophy for Peewee MVP for his season’s efforts, while manager Melanie Gage was singled out for her contribution.

The Bantam MVP trophy went to Tanner Roberts while the coaches had an additional pair of awards to go along with the certificates, Eagles trophies and Esso Medallions being handed out.

Coach Toby Roberts gave the Clutch Scorer to Josh Walkus while Nathan Sandeman was recognized as Coach Bean.

Tyson Cadwallader took the MVP award for the midgets with manger Lori Walker honoured for her efforts. The eight graduating members of the side received a personalized gift of a travel mug featuring an action photo from their season, created by Strait Shooter Photography.

The executive remained largely unchanged with Lito Pineda taking up the role of Registrar in addition to Treasurer and Equipment Manager, Leighann Ruel picking up a Director’s position. Vadim Stavrakov reprises his role as President on an interim basis after no replacement was forthcoming but stressed that he was actively looking to find a replacement.
