The North Island Eagles rep midget team will open the 2011-12 regular season with a pair of games in Port Hardy this weekend while the bantam and peewee hockey teams will play in Port McNeill, VIHL announced this week.
Representatives of hockey associations across the Island met last weekend to place teams into competitive tiers for the league season and set the schedule.
The North Island Eagles atom development program is not scheduled for league games this weekend, but each of the other three teams will play before the home crowd.
The schedule for Saturday, Oct. 29:
2 p.m. - Eagles bantams vs. Peninsula, Port McNeill
2:30 p.m. - Eagles midgets vs. Sooke, Port Hardy
4:15 p.m. - Eagles peewees vs. Peninsula, Port McNeill (exhibition)
Games set for Sunday, Oct. 30:
9 a.m. - Eagles midgets vs. Sooke, Port Hardy
11 a.m. - Eagles peewees vs. Peninsula, Port McNeill
