Tri-Port Minor Baseball is gearing up for another season of base hits, catches, strike outs, fly balls, line drives
and home runs on the local fields. "Registration is going really well," said Coordinator Carla Wagnor, adding
that they had a big meeting on Sunday, April 3 with the Director from BC Baseball in Victoria "to help organize
baseball here in the community."The league currently has three teams broken into three different age
categories; 5-7 year olds, 8-10 year olds, and 11-13 year olds. "We have about 17 players in the oldest age
division," said Wagnor. "A dozen in the middle group, and around eight in the youngest." Registration for
league play closes around the 13th of April, which is when the league officially starts. Practices will be held on
Fields Two and Three at Park Drive in Port Hardy while the Adult field at Storey's Beach is undergoing
maintenance. "The older kids will be practicing at the Hyde Creek field," said Wagnor. The teams will be going
head to head down island against Campbell River and Courtenay for most of the upcoming season.
